Boyd Orchard

While Cary and Brenda were visiting us in Kentucky, we visited Boyd Orchard. I have been wanting to get some apples. Last year we went with Melissa and Clayton and had the most amazing apple dumpling with ice cream and caramel sauce. We got them this time as well but I was a little disappointed. They weren't as good as last year and there was no caramel sauce. It turns out that we must have gone the weekend of the fall festival last year and the caramel sauce was a special thing just for that, so it looks like we will be making another trip to the orchard in October! We had fun and got some apples that I have never tried before. We tried a few of them and they were pretty good. The best one we have tried so far was the Jona Crisp. They are really good! Brenda took a few photos for us while we were there but Ben wasn't very cooperative so our photo session was very short lived! I got Ben a new blue ball at the orchard and so he was very preoccupied with his ball the whole time we were taking pictures. I should have waited and given it to him afterward!

First County Fair

While we were visiting family and friends in Iowa, we took Ben to the Wayne County Fair. This was Ben's first time at a fair and he seemed to enjoy it. Ben saw rabbits, ducks, chickens, horses, cows, pigs, and sheep and he even got to touch some of them. Melissa (Ben's Fairy Godmother) and Clayton were at the fair too so we met up with them and ate. We had pork and lamb for lunch. Nathan let us take pictures of Ben with the tractors even though they were John Deere.

Nate's '38 Chevy

Brenda and Cary wanted to take us out to eat at Honeycreek Resort for our anniversary since they are so close together. Our anniversary is August 18 and their anniversary is August 16. My mom watched Ben so that we could actually enjoy our dinner. :) Ben is a very busy boy and has a difficult time sitting still, so taking him out to eat with us at restaurants can be a little bit of a challenge. We took a few pictures at Honeycreek and then we took some when we got home as well. Ben had fun playing with his Grandma Julie while we were gone and he even called me with her phone. She was letting him play with it and I was the last number she had talked to so he managed to call me. It was cute and funny!

We took Ben for a short drive around the block in the '38 and he loved it!!!
He laughed and smiled the whole time!

Hand Prints

Nathan and Elizabeth made hand prints in the cement by Cary's garage when they were kids. We did a comparison of Ben's hands with theirs and Ben's hand fit perfectly in his daddy's handprint. So sweet!

Little Helper

While we were in Iowa, Cary asked Nathan to help him move Elizabeth's 1937 Chevy from the white garage to Cary's garage, which involved pushing the car down the road around part of the block. Ben really got into "helping" push the car. As you can see in the pictures, he was really enjoying himself and felt like a big boy!
