Pool Time

I bought Ben a kiddie pool for this summer and I got one that I could get in with him. His first pool experience was this afternoon. He loves bath time so I thought he would really like it. He didn't know what to think of at first but by the end he was having fun. He hadn't taken an afternoon nap and so I think that he would have enjoyed it more if he had napped first. He went to sleep immediately when we went inside!

I am using Ben's floatie that Grandma Brenda got him for Easter to strategically hide my post-baby belly. Not that I have much of an excuse, it has been almost a year after all!
He was pretty solemn at first but it was partly because he stood up and slipped
and his face got wet, which he does not like at all!

The floatie is just a tad big for him right now! He will grow into it though!

He was intrigued by the hose. I had filled the pool early in the day but the water was quite warm so I had Nathan add some cold water to make it more comfortable.

We were having fun playing with the hose and splashing in the water.

I think that we will have a lot of fun "swimming" this summer!!!

Easter

We went to Iowa for Easter and were able to visit a lot of friends and family. We had a really great time but did a lot of traveling and were very tired when we got back. Unfortunately, the only family members of Nathan's that we got to see were his uncle Keith, aunt Kim and their girls, Jeremy and Tonya and their little ones, and Melissa. We got to see most of my family, which was awesome because we hadn't seen them since August because the boys were both sick at Thanksgiving when we were supposed to visit last. We also got to see my best friend Mandy and her daughter Charlotte and Nathan's friend Doug, Amanda, and their baby Elyse. We also visited our friend Jason in Waukee. It makes us sad when we get to see everyone and then have to leave but we are so glad we get to see them. We wish we lived closer to our friends and family and hopefully within a year or so we will be back in Peoria and we will be much much closer to everyone. Sadly, I couldn't make it to my friend Rachael's baby shower which was that weekend. I really wanted to meet their new baby Lily! Logistically we couldn't make it work and see everyone we hoped to see. We were in Iowa from Thursday afternoon through Monday morning and felt like we didn't slow down or stop the entire time we were there! It was well worth the energy to see everyone though! Below are a few photos from our trip that Brenda took while at Keith and Kim's house.

I will post the photos we took during our trip later. We didn't take a lot of pictures, but we took some. Then, this past weekend after Cary came to our house after being released from Cardinal Hill Hospital, we took some Easter photos. I will post those soon as well.

Looks so innocent, but he's not!

Ben kept playing with Hudson's new toy. Ben has the same toy at home. I don't think Hudson liked Ben playing with his toy so much.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

I love St. Paddy's Day! I guess I am proud of my Irish heritage (My maiden name is McKay after all) and love any good reason to drink beer and cook something different. We had Nathan's homemade Irish red beer and Nathan had some Guinness to celebrate the day. I also made homemade Shepherd's pie for the first time. Nathan and Brenda both liked it so I guess it was a success. We had a good evening and were all in good spirits! Cheers!

I love this bib and thought it matched Ben's cloth diaper quite well!
